Performing for the camera: queer migration, sex work, and objecthood

چکیده
This article explores cultural production on queer migrant sex work. More specifically, I critically analyse a photography series by Bradley Secker titled Sexugees and short documentary film Manuel Abramovich Blue Boy. Despite work featuring in many narratives migration, this is often treated as one marginal aspect of broader experiences. Boy take an alternative approach centring Instead relying tropes vulnerability, argue these forms rely objecthood sign political agency to highlight subjectivity. Objecthood thus becomes means not only refusing the necessity performing worthy subjects sexual humanitarianism, but complicate relationship between migrants those gazing upon their presence within production.
